Enrichment Courses

Neuroscience

Neuroscience

Students will explore the structure and function of the brain. Through investigations of memory, concussions, and the neurons that support thought and connection, students will deepen their understanding of neuroscience. Hands-on activities, including brain and neuron models and a sheep brain dissection will provide a firsthand experience exploring brain anatomy.

Mars Rover

Mars Rover

Learn the science and engineering behind rover missions! Students will research Mars and compare past and current Mars rover missions. Working in collaborative teams, students will design and build a rover prototype, selecting scientific instruments, landing site, and mission. The course culminates in a team presentation where students showcase their rover design.

Inventions

Inventions

Students explore the work of notable inventors and innovative thinkers as they learn the steps of the invention process. Using an inventor's notebook to record ideas, research, designs, and improvements, students will develop their own original invention from concept to prototype. The course culminates in an event where students present their inventions and pitch their ideas to a panel of judges.

Scamper

Scamper

SCAMPER is a creative thinking technique that helps students generate new ideas by applying seven thinking strategies: Substitute, Combine, Adapt, Modify, Put to other uses, Eliminate, and Reverse. Students practice these strategies through hands-on challenges and creative projects.

Research Skills

Research Skills

Students develop essential research skills including how to formulate research questions, evaluate sources, take notes, organize information, and present findings. These skills support academic success across all subject areas and prepare students for advanced academic work.

Texas Performance Standards Projects

Texas Performance Standards Projects

Students engage in rigorous, self-directed research projects aligned to the Texas Performance Standards Project framework. Through original research, students develop advanced inquiry skills, produce a written product, and present their findings — building the habits of mind of true scholars.

My son loves learning. His GT teachers challenged him to learn new and unique things (e.g., green screens, drones, quilting, research tools, executive functioning skills). Thank you, G/T teachers/classes!
